Authors to Expect

Hello all!

As the store opening comes closer, I'm sure you are wondering what authors and types of books you can expect to find. Of course there will be a variety of all genres and authors! I'm always open to suggestions for certain authors as well. So, this blog post today is going to be about the authors I've found that I would like to share with you.

As a lover of books, I'm in a Facebook group for book lovers. There are many independent writers there. As a small business owner, I want to encourage and support as many people who are going after their dreams as I can. So! Here are some amazing authors that may live right next door!

First up is L.M. Nisgow.

Nisgow is from San Antonio, Texas and writes Sci-fi/mystery novels. Her Elpie Trilogy is fascinating and will keep you intrigued from page one of the first book! You follow a group of people who become a family amidst the intrigue of aliens, murder, and mystery. Here is the book description for the first book of the series, Elpie Erectus:

"On the verge of being murdered, a child vanishes, and her tormentors, arrested for her disappearance, remember only a bright light and a tall blue man. Two abandoned dogs, being used as bait in a dog fighting ring, see a bright light in the instant they are to be torn apart, and the men at ringside wake up naked and chained, with no dogs in sight. After a night of terror, a woman and three cats find themselves on an alien vessel, with no hope of rescue.

The "Bluemen" hope to change their society with the help of a child, and Bess McPhinney is appalled to learn that she's been abducted to serve as a substitute mother on an alien planet, particularly since she has no children and no great fondness for them. Left temporarily on a "drop-off" planet, Bess and her Bluemen enhanced felines are taken in by the "Elpies," a species of large, telepathic reptiles. Simon, a man who has chosen to stay on the Elpies' planet, becomes Bess' mentor in the Elpie way of life. As Elpies, humans, and alien augmented animals all play a part in nurturing a child badly in need of family, family is what they become.

Their newly formed bonds and simpler way of life seem idyllic until the return of two criminals, long thought dead, shatters the peace of the village with unthinkable violence. Four species face this evil together, and the outcome of their struggles will ultimately change the destinies of two planets."

Next is Misty Wolf, a mom with a big story who resides in Santa Clarita, California. Her memoir Looking for Caylie is a heartbreaking look into how life can flip upside down in a second. It's emotional and impactful. If you like memoirs, this one is a good read.

"In Looking for Caylie, author Misty Wolf takes you inside her journey as she fights to discover the cause of Caylie's rapid cognitive regression and mental health deterioration. Wolf bravely challenges traditional IEP narratives in education by dismantling the school vs. parents mentality, and establishing that each team member was on Caylie's side. This authentic and raw account of Caylie and Misty's struggle in navigating the US medical system, and disability support, reminds us that we are not alone in our journey."

Our next author is a mystery novelist, Nellie H. Steele. Steele lives in Pittsburgh with her family and fur-babies. She writes amazing mysteries that have twists of supernatural or magic, or both! They will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat as you're reading them! Her most known series is her Cate Kensie Mystery Series, which follows the adventures of Dr. Catherine Kensie, a history professor turned into a Scottish Countess. Below is the description for the first book of the series, The Secret of Dunhaven Castle.

"Shy, introverted Dr. Cate Kensie never imagined that she would inherit a beautiful, and oddly quirky, castle nestled in the picturesque Scottish Highlands. Truthfully, she was sure that she didn't have any family left after her parents died in a car accident several years before, but then she had gotten the phone call, and her entire world had turned upside down.

That was when she discovered that she had family in Scotland, and her distant family member, Gertrude MacKenzie, had passed away, leaving her Dunhaven Castle and a golden timepiece with the mysterious phone call: ALWAYS KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR TIME.

Soon after she leaves the only life she's ever known in the US with her four-legged best friend, the adorable Riley, she quickly finds that owning this castle is not the fairytale she expected. Mysterious events occur that leave Cate wondering if her new home is haunted or if she's losing her mind.

Will Cate be able to unravel the mysteries of Dunhaven Castle before it's too late? Or will the secrets be too much for Cate to handle?"

And these three are just the beginning of the list of indie authors that I will have in store! Some others are Manswell T. Peterson, Oliver Strong, Dayna Ward and Brian M. Cox.

I will also have some well known authors such as Nora Roberts, John Grisham, James Patterson, Lemony Snicket, Cassandra Clare, Stephen King, Agatha Christy, and more! If there is an author that you want to make sure makes the list, please comment their name(s)!
