August News

Wow, we're already getting into September. Where did all the time go?! I'm thinking of making some changes with the emails being sent out. I'll send one at the beginning of the month, to be the previous month's newsletter, and then send one out middle of the month for the upcoming month's classes. Think that would work better than trying to include everything in one email. I could also always simply do the newsletter as a blog post, too. Speaking of the blog - should I post more? I'm thinking I should make more blogs, talking about the shop and what I sell but also about Hastings, and maybe even about the books I read. Would that be something you would read?

With that said, how did August go? It was a little slower than I had expected to be honest, but I know school was starting back up and everyone was probably trying to get in some last-minute camping before kids had to be in school. I don't blame you! I ended July with a fabulous camping/fishing trip that I definitely needed. But I still appreciate each and every one of you who had time to stop in and celebrate with me! I can't believe I've been open a year! My thesis went well and I loved being able to present it. I hope you were able to watch it on Facebook live, if not, you should still be able to watch the video. I can't pin it to the top of the page, but you can go through the live videos and should be able to find it. If you can't find it, here's the link: https://fb.watch/mPkkqlMqx2/ Game Night was awesome! It was great getting to see everyone who was able to come out. I ended up doing the same drink as last month, the Brother's War drink inspired by Quincy from Quincy's Tavern on TikTok. I'm looking for some more inspiration for September's drink, because I do want to do something different. The big thing that happened at August game night, was our campaign masters decided they would switch back and forth every month on which campaign happens. So, since August was 5th edition, September will be 2nd edition. Gives them both a month off to be able to have some fun as a player! I enjoyed all the classes this month, so much. Pots & Pints with Steeple Brewing was great and was a fun experience I hope to repeat in the future. (This is kind of your heads up that we are looking at doing more things together!) The thrown planters were super fun and new for me, and being able to make them with new artists was a top favorite August moment. The tissue box covers were also super fun! I really hope they turn out right so they can actually be used on a tissue box. I love the one Avi made - you can see it on Facebook if you like - because it does have hearts on it. Now, I hope everyone in school had a great start to the new school year! Best of luck to the new teachers (there's like 85 new teachers in Hastings) and I hope you have a great school year!

I am also selling t-shirts to help the business! The campaign will be open until September 22nd, so you still have plenty of time to order if you'd like. If you'd like to check out the information about them, go to https://www.bonfire.com/sorry-im-late-my-book-was-more-interesting-1/ . You'll also be able to check out the cool design! I'd love to see you in it as soon as they're shipped out! I've posted the design on Facebook and Instagram too, if you'd like to check it out on those platforms. September is on its way now, and I'm super excited for the classes. I hope to see you in them! It's going to be pumpkins, gnomes, lidded pots and chip-n-dip plates for our pottery classes! If you're interested intaking these classes, be sure to sign up for them via THD or at www.cccneb.edu/commed.

There's also a few things coming up in September that I want to share, so be sure to check out the following flyers and information! If you ever want to find out what's happening in Hastings, be sure to follow Downtown Hastings on Facebook. They share a lot of information, and so does the Chamber. The Chamber for sure has a calendar that I think you can check out to see what's coming up!

First things first, though. Junk Street is this coming up Saturday! There's quite a few businesses that will be having deals, so be sure to come walk around downtown and check them out!

Later this month, the Hastings Public Library has a poetry workshop being led by Sierra DeMulder! How amazing is that?! Be sure to sign up for the workshop and to go to the college for her performance later that evening!

And I'd like to end the blog today with a reminder of the changed hours for THD. Tuesday through Friday will be 1 pm to 8 pm, and Saturdays will be 10 am to 6 pm, with exceptions for Game Night, the 3rd Saturday of the month, and parties.

Thank you all for your continued support!
